Folksy Feel...................

It has been an age since I last did an outfit post. Now that classes have finished for the year, I need to keep busy and regular posting will help me stay out of boredom or too much thinking!!!
Anyhoo, the outfit has a distinctively 70's folk/hippy vibe methinks. Skirt: 1990's Sportsgirl, Clogs Marcus B, Belt - opshop/thrifted, black resin bangle - It Was Me, Green striped resin bangle from Corky Saint Clair under Flinders Street Station. The clay beads around my neck are thrifted/op-shopped.

New Gossip Girl Ad...........

Okay, I watch gossip girl sometimes and it has been quite some time. Think I finished watching season 2. Anyhoo, I saw this ad in practically every tram stop in the city today and am so blown away by how gorgeous they all look. Very aesthetically pleasing!!!

Miu Resort - Prints

Here's some Monday morning inspiration. I really love these 70's inspired prints and most of the stuff from this particular show.

Dolce and Gabbana S/S 11 RTW

Wow, I'm a bit blown away and surprised by this collection. Surprised because it's not the usual D&G sexed up woman, but way more demure and feminine, with the use of monochrome, especially white and the lace and broderies. The short little shift dresses, extremely short but manages to avoid being slutty simply by the use of lace and it being white/cream/ivory. And, I guess with the whole GFC thing, it makes financial sense to use a limited pallette.
I'm loving the tiny cropped jackets too.

Drawing Faces...................

These two ladies I drew for the latest design assignment. I took my time and used a 0.03 fineliner for the face details and outlines and pencils and markers for the rest. It's funny because when I started the classes I told myself I couldn't draw and especially not faces. The markers made a world of difference. I think I was scared to use them previously, but so glad I did and I'll definitely be using them from now on. They are quite pricey but so worth it. The girl on the right reminds me of the actress Melissa George!!

Shorts I Made..............

This is the latest garment I've made. I used cotton/nylon ripstop fabric. I'm very pleased with the end result. They fit perfectly too. I also drafted the pattern.

60's Inspiration

For class I need to come up with a set of designs referencing an era and a design idea/detail. Since I'm such a fan of the 60's, guess what I've chosen!
60's and the future ( the idea of the future back then)
So I want to make a fitted mini shift dress out of a brocade or tapestry type fabric a la Courreges or Pierre Cardin.
If you want to see a film that shows 60's fashion and London - watch "Blow Up".
