I made this bag in class and I'm very proud of it! It's the second project so far - the 1st one was a pencil case which I'll probably show in a later post.
I wanted to make a bag that I would actually use and we had to embellish it in some way in order to get a passing grade. I was trying to avoid a crafty homemade look so I cut a piece of leather, put gold lame underneath, handstitched around the edge and put silver studs in each corner. I used the lining fabric for the handles , then added a grosgrain ribbon to give it more strength. I used iron on fusing for both the outer fabric and lining again for strength and longevity.
Now I'm just waiting to get paid again so I can buy more fabric and make more bags.
I love textiles and am a designer and maker of homewares, accessories and clothing and anything that can be made with fabric, dressing, vintage, costume, making things, markets, op-shopping(thrifting), cooking, meeting people. I studied applied fashion design and technology at Tafe and worked briefly in the industry but realised that the fashion industry wasn't for me. I did learn some invaluable skills though which I can use when I sew and draft things...email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
